Better Block Pikes Peak – The Video

A little over a year ago, many of my fellow interventionists from Colorado Springs Urban Intervention and I participated in a demonstration/experiment in placemaking known as Better Block Pikes Peak. We modeled our experiment after the national Better Block movements made popular in a Dallas suburb in 2010 and further developed by Team Better Block.

Although we did not work with Team Better Block, we were grateful of all of the proven techniques that they put forth in paving the way toward better placemaking and better cities. Another part of our inspiration came from the Next Generation of New Urbanists and the work of Mike Lydon and the Street Plans Collaborative in the development of the Tactical Urbanism books.

Enjoy our quick video set to the music of The Beastie Boys “So What ‘Cha Want?”
